I was blessed to visit Tanzania recently. Tanzania is in East Africa and is home to much of what is immediately thought of when Africa is mentioned. The Serengeti Park in in the north, legendary for the wildebeest migration, lion sightings, and the full spectrum of African wildlife. The famous Massai People in their brightly draped robes live throughout Tanzania. Dar Es Salaam is a modern city of Africa. Motorbikes everywhere, luxury buildings, fantastic restaurants, and endless energy. Zanzibar is an autonomous island region of the United Republic of Tanzania. The beauty of Dar Es Salaam and Zanzibar is immense. These are just a few of the photos I took during my time there.
There is a mystical feeling about Zanzibar. It’s quite difficult to put into words. I can only describe it as mysterious, seductive, alluring. It feels like a secret. One must take a ferry from Dar Es Salaam to get to Zanzibar. It is a journey across the emerald green waters of the Indian ocean. You arrive in Stone Town. An abundance of plants line the narrow maze of streets. The air is carries the scent of spice. The famous doors seem to be portals to ancient kingdoms.
Dar Es Salaam
Dar Es Salaam is active and diverse. Modern and traditional. Nearly everywhere you go you can find art, lush green views and interesting patterns and design. I also bought a painting at the Tinga Tinga Arts Collective.
