You Are the Cosmos

Walk alone at night. Avoid street lamps and high rises.

Don’t wear your headphones. Keep your cell on silent mode.

Just walk.

Do you see the moon light in the puddle over there?

The wind whistles a soft melody in your ear.

Clouds float above you. The light changes.

You stop and look up.

A cluster of stars. Maybe Jupiter too.

You tell yourself it is Jupiter.

“I see Jupiter!”

Do you see it? Is it “up there?”

Or is it happening within you?

How can the stars shine without your eyes?

How can the wind sing without your ears?

This summer you will visit the beach.

Your skin will darken

and you join the sun in cosmic matrimony.
